Glasgow Open Day

The credit crunch may be biting elsewhere, but it seems that Glasgow is still the land of opportunity for those with financial skills.  Despite announcements of job losses, some bosses are finding it difficult to recruit suitably qualified accountants, audit managers, IFAs and taxation specialists.  Julie Barr, Operations Manager of Kelly Financial Resources (KFR) Glasgow – a sub-division of the Fortune 500-listed Kelly Services – is finding it hard to attract applicants for more than 40 vacancies on her books.

“It seems amazing in the current climate that we should have so many openings and so few candidates,” she says.  “It really is bucking the trend one might expect.  However, we do need to attract candidates at all levels for these jobs, both on a permanent and contract basis.  We can only imagine that people are reading the headlines and believing that there aren’t any jobs on the market at present, while in fact we’ve got around 45 positions to fill.”  To get the message across that Glasgow still wants financial wizards, the company is holding an open day to attract candidates with the skills that employers are looking for.

With some quite senior positions on offer, KFR is hoping to attract some highly qualified candidates on 27th October, to the Abbey Business Centre, 20 – 23 Woodside Place, Charing Cross, Glasgow, G3 7QF.  “We’ll be there from 8am to 8pm, so hopefully, people will drop by after work as well as during office hours,” adds Barr.  “Doubtless we’ll have some openings for those who’ve been made redundant, but we still have opportunities for people to progress their career, even during what appears to be a recession.”

It does seem to indicate that despite most reports, for some financial staff, there is still plenty to be positive about.    For more information about vacancies, or the open day, call 0141 331 9021, email kfr_glasgow@kellyservices.co.uk, or visit www.kellyfinancialresources.co.uk.

Sister office, Kelly Scientific Resources (KSR) Glasgow also places scientific staff, and, despite the current climate has openings for qualified scientists across a full range of disciplines. Prospective candidates should enquire at KSR Glasgow on 0141 331 9070 or email ksr_cv_glasgow@kellyservices.co.uk.
